Thank you for following me and I hope that you enjoy the new site

I want to take you on a journey. This journey began after the breakdown of a marriage and an acrimonious divorce. My story began in order to record the worst and the best of human nature but over time it has evolved. It was a story of manipulation and control but it is now a story of resilience and strength.

At the bottom of hell, at the very bottom of the black pit there was a tiny spark. Encouraged and fuelled by the support of a few, the spark refused to be extinguished, growing stronger and brighter, nurtured by those who watched closely and guarded it and who ensured that it would thrive. Challenges were heaped on top of trials but this time, instead of sucking the life out of the flame, the dramas fuelled it, adding to its intensity, unwittingly giving it power and courage.

I took a leap of faith and I decided to follow my dreams. I quit my job, I gave up my apartment and I booked a flight to a different continent.

At every turn I have met some amazing people and each morning when I wake I am so glad that I found the strength to hurtle out of my comfort zone.

Maybe my journey will encourage you to follow your dreams or perhaps you are content reading about the exotic and the unusual from the comfort of your own home. I hope to entertain you. I set out wanting not to simply backpack but I hoped to spend some time working with various volunteering projects. I wanted to get to know different communities and cultures, learn a new language and live a nomadic lifestyle. And so far so good. Follow my blog or find me on Facebook or Twitter and learn how my journey is turning out a million times better than I could ever have hoped.

For my children: I have never stopped loving you and I miss you every day. It never gets any easier, yet I have to trust that one day you will understand and you will believe in me.’

Good morning dear dear Jane, this is the first time have ever read anyone’s blog and your profile certainly blew me away. So you go girl, shoe horn in every good thing life has to offer and have a fabulous, fun and monumental adventure. I don’t think there is a day when I don’t think about you and your epic personality. Not sure what button to press now, hang on …

Thank you – it can often be scary or daunting but I am loving it and I have never once regretted my decision to give it a go.
